The Journey of Three Things honors the memories of my paternal grandmother, Shoghagat Margosian and her mother, my great grandmother, Santoukht Arkoian. They arrived at Ellis Island with only a bag of wool, the stem of a rose bush and a grape leaf vine from the refugee camps in Aleppo, Syria after having survived the Armenian Genocide of 1915.

Sea Turtle tureen modeled after an Edo period Japanese-style soup tureen. I sgraffitoed the head, flippers, shell and soup handle. I used engobe for the shell, head, flippers and soup handle.

Ocean within a Wave expresses my love for the ocean and the millions of ways she can be portrayed. I created this form using a stainless steel mold my husband, Ted Hinman custom made for me.
